LASIK
LASIK or known as Laser-Assisted in situ Keratomileusis is a permanent correction for Short-sightedness (Myopia), Far-sightedness (Hypermetropia), Astigmatism or Presbyopia (Reading problem). It is a solution to correct refractive error for those who do not want to wear spectacles and contact lenses.
Your doctor will advice you on the treatment option after the comprehensive LASIK eye check.
Bladeless LASIK or femtosecond LASIK are known to minimize the risk of LASIK with blade. Bladeless LASIK creates flap with high accuracy infrared laser, while blade LASIK creates flap using oscillating metal blade. When the flap is created by Laser beam, it will be more accurate and even, and thus reduce the risk cause by oscillating microkeratome and it's metal blade. Risks like button hole, free cap and irregular flap will be much reduced with bladeless LASIK.
Reading Problem
Yes, we can solve the reading problem as well. With blended vision, we offer treatment not only to those who are shortsighted or have astigmatism, but also for reading problem.
The CostThe Cost
RM 2,688 for one eye treatment. Currently we are having special promotion which is RM3,999 for both eyes.
Preparation
(a) You can come in for a full eye assessment, our doctor will decide if you are suitable candidate for LASIK.
(b) For Contact Lens Users: You need to lay off your contact lenses for a minimum of 7 days (Soft Contact Lens) or 2 weeks (Hard Contact Lens). The eye check will take about 2-3 hours.
You have to bring your sunglasses and may need to arrange transport to go home after the eye check.
Too Old?
People from age 18 to 65 can have LASIK done as long as they have healthy eyes.
Both eyes on same time
Yes. You can have both eyes treated on the same time.
High Short-sightedness
LASIK can treat high short-sightedness up to 14 dioptres, however you need to get your eyes checked. The doctor will confirm if LASIK is for you.
Contact Lens on 'Screening'
No. The 10 minutes screening is to find out if you are suitable for LASIK. It is not a comprehensive eye check. However, you are advice to come in with your spectacles.
Taking off glasses &
contact lens
The contact lenses are in contact with your eyes.
We want a precise assessment of your eyes. Therefore you need to lay them off. Yes, you can wear your spectacle while laying off your contact lenses.
Time of Procedure
The LASIK treatment only take 10 minutes per eye.
Painless treatment
No, with our latest Visumax Lasik, most people only experience minimal discomfort during the procedure.
Injection during treatment
No. We only use numbing eye drops. No injection or general anesthehic is required.
Outpatient at hospital
No, you can go back on the same day. This is an outpatient procedure.
Risks of LASIK
Risk in LASIK is minimal. Dry eyes, sensitive to light, fluctuation of vision and etc. Most of the complaints are temporary. You need to consult your doctor for your possible risk.
No Blindess
No. there is no record of blindness from LASIK in our centre.
Recovery Period
Healing and recovery can go on for a few weeks. However you can 'SEE' the next day.
For driving: the next 2 - 3 days later. It all depends on personal recovery process.
Follow-up Treatment
4-6 times.
Contact Lens
Yes, after 3 months.
Back in action
That depends on what sports you are doing. You are welcomed to clear any doubt during the counselling session. Avoid contact sports and swimming for one month after surgery.
Back to work
You can go back to work the next day. However, it is better to take a rest for 2-3 days so that you do not strain your eyes excessively.
